Born to musical parents, in County Durham, Tom Hanna was always encouraged to do his own thing. Despite obvious intelligence, he left school without qualifications, and took to playing bass, with his mouth wide open in the shape of a fish. The Society was Tom's first real break, and he injected some musical depth into Simon and Joe's songs. When he isn't playing bass with The Society, he's a session bassist everywhere else, with a particular love of funk. Tom is relaxed, enormously good company, and extremely sociable. Although a vital part of the band's sound, Tom's dicing with death on his skateboard is a cause of constant concern to the boys. He's dangerous. |
