Norfolk-born Simon started learning piano at an early age, and was soon also cajoled into singing in a local church choir, an experience that he does not remember with pleasure. He later tried his hand at recorder and trombone. During his teenage years, Simon picked up a string of good theatre parts, especially in musicals. Fond of writing comic satirical songs for his schoolfriends, he taught himself guitar and formed 'The Society' with Joe. Immediately his lyrics improved. Although the band extrovert in performance, Simon prefers a private lifestyle, liking to socialise with small groups of close friends. He especially enjoys theatre, travelling and eating at good restaurants. |
