'Dedicated to "keeping the art of decent songwriting alive", and they actually come close to living up to that claim. Their singer [Joe Palmer] sounds like a cross between Nick Cave and Dave Vanian and the music is a gritty sort of pop - catchy, but never too happy sounding.
'The opening number [Zion] is the best, reminding me of The Damned in their "Eloise" phase.
'The second [What Have You Got To Gain?] bears a strong resemblance to The Beatles, with the versatile Simon Chater hiking his voice up to a much higher pitch in order to match its more upbeat style.
'The third [Near The Flame] is a melancholy ballad with wiffs of psychedelia floating about - if they used an organ instead of piano it could almost pass for The Doors.
'The band's ability is apparent most promising. 4/5'
